The debate on euthanasia (a law is discussed in France now) has at least revealed that the Catholic Church didn’t change. Its God is an old bastard and man is on earth to suffer. All other points of dogma are secondary to this.

I got only two copies of the small Migo box, sent from China by plane. The other ones are in a container which will arrive one of these days. The small mountain climbers drawn by Maxime Morin are really cute. I should have several small card games hitting the shelves in the coming months.

There are now two versions of the Persian edition of Citadels, the only one with local art, by Hassan Nozadian. There's a small blue box with just the basic game, and a big purple one with all the extra characters and buildings.

All my designer copies are arriving at the same time. The new version of Diamant looks gorgeous. Paul Mafayon obviously had great fun with the art, the cardboard chests are sturdier than in the old version, and the game will even be slightly cheaper.

A first copy of Animots, designed with Anja Wrede, was shown at the Cannes game fair. I really like this picture, taken from the Jedisjeux website, wich both shows and hides the components and throws a veil of mystery on the game mechanisms.

Publishers playtesting prototypes on BGA is certainly very convenient, but it makes harder to pitch games that work much better in real life than online. I would probably not have found a publisher for Citadels or Mascarade if they had been playtested this way.

Boardgame designer‘s hint : read cooking recipes. They are written like good game rules. They start with a list of components. Then every step is explained in as few words as possible, with no repetition and a focus on clarity.

I am now retired from my job as a teacher. I wil have more time for boardgames, but this doesn't necessarily mean more creative ideas. I become more available to attend game fairs, to tour publishers, to work on order, and to do any interesting boardgame related job.
