This is Roman Gorilyk after two years of Russian captivity. Roman is the senior controller of the checkpoint of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. Russians took him and the other 168 National Guard servicemen hostage. Gorilyk reminds me of Caesar's photos of detainees in Assad's prisons in Syria.

Last night, Israel bombed tents in Rafah, Gaza. Dozens of children and civilians were killed as a result of the bombing. This is a crime against humanity, and a complete violation of international and humanitarian law. Anyone who directly targets civilians is a war criminal.

On this day 13 years ago, Hamza Al-Khatib’s body was delivered to his parents — swollen and bruised, covered in burn marks, gunshot wounds and severed genitals. Hamza was 13 when he was tortured to death by the Assad regime. He would have been 27 this year, had he lived.
