My father was stationed near Port Arthur Texas early in WWII. My mother had survived Missouri summers but this was new. One of the other wives, who was from Wisconsin, asked a local woman how she managed. The answer: I get up at dawn and do my doings, then I lie in the bed and eat ice. Sound praxis!
