we probably all fit within this to some degree, but there are more and less skillful ways of doing it, and certainly it has bad outcomes, as any particular way of life does. but i think i have a kind of general orientation away from it, and am more at fault of overexamination

i meant it mostly gesturally, but if i had to say something: "a life highly adapted to a particular mode of living, a mode that is near frictionless, but relies on staying within it and not questioning its premises, and outside of whose bounds lies both friction and inarticulateness"

if i post about general theories of art you should know that i'm not actually getting at some general theory of art that i have. i'm usually trying to articulate something particular in a general form that runs parallel to the inarticulable actual attraction of art to me

there was some story i listened to the other day about a bunch of middle aged men hanging out and drinking and living the unexamined life and it made me really sad, but then the commentary was about how contented and happy these guys were and that made me sadder
