For many years, climate change was treated as a problem of rising sea levels and temperatures. Only coastal cities and super hot places would suffer — others could even gain, right? Guess what: Porto Alegre is 120km from the coast, with LA-style temperatures — and it is now underwater.
Heating the ENTIRE world up by around 1.5-2°c generates a STUPENDOUS amount of added evaporation. In turn it all comes crashing down, most of it over land. In the next 10 years an incredibly high number of communities will experience "never before seen" amounts of rainfall and consequential floods.
