My productivity SKYROCKETED once I got out of an in-person environment. Even taking frequent breaks to wait hand and foot on my cat I still get more done. I hope you can create a better professional space for yourself.

Watching FORGED IN FIRE has, barely, kept my Sword Ownership at bay. If nothing else, it's a great way to sword window shop.

King of Ys by Poul Anderson is I think the classic gold standard for Slightly More Fantasy Rome, though IIRC it's not really high magic. If you've not seen or read I, CLAUDIUS, definitely watch it. God, I think Jim Butcher did a series that was Ancient Rome x Pokemon, but I never read those.

I've started responding with "I'm managing" or "it's manageable" to convey similar information. "OK" isn't accurate, and we're not yet Actionable Levels of Not OK.

Bought VIOLENT FACULTIES by Charlene Elsby from the HP Lovecraft Spooksatorium in Providence and it is a MUST READ for lovers of extremity in art. A philosophy professor kidnaps and tortures people for science, the book is presented as part of her tenure application.

I've watched the MST3K enough to be fully Manos-Pilled in terms of there actually being a deeply disturbing and good story in it, so thank you so much for doing this.

Tubi has been getting some REAL weird stuff lately. THANATOMORPHOSE, 964 PINOCCHIO, X-CROSS, something I'm watching called VIOLATOR that opens with a warning imploring anyone who finds joy in the world to stop watching the movie immediately, which is exactly the sort of carny shit I love.

Hard same, it's why I'm such an indoor kid. The most brutal mammal I interact with regularly is my cat.

If it's possible to underrate a part of RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, I think the exchange "Do you like sex with death?" "Yeah, so fuck off and die." should get more credit. It's a screwball comedy line and pacing.

Work stress has reached the point where, after two straight weeks of horrific nightmares, I appear to be grinding my teeth so much my gums bleed at night. Time to watch THE DEVIL'S BATH so I can get some extreme It Could Be Worse perspective.

Oof I am still not in a headspace to receive that movie. It's on my list and holy shit I'm happy it exists and I need to do some more work before I can sit down with it.

God, seeing Episode 1 in the theaters midnight opening night was a fucking trip. I felt like Veronica Cartwright at the end of Body Snatchers. "That was TERRIBLE, right?" as everyone points at me and screams.

I marathoned it and my partner watched it as it aired, and the viewing experience even without a significant gap in WHEN we saw it was completely different.

GAKIDAMA is a 50 minute exploration of "What if there was a ghoulie?" Because it's so short, the TTG (Time-To-Ghoulie) rating beats out most of the actual GHOULIES franchise, plus the effects are *extra* gooey.

Rewatched DEMONS 2 and the Travis Crawford commentary is one of my favorites. He spends a lot of the movie talking about movies that you could be watching instead of DEMONS 2. Followed it up with GAKIDAMA per his recommendation, and that one rules.

RIGHT? At least it's in a big city so it's not like, idk, the Wilhelm Reich museum where I'd need to devote an entire day for rural travel.

Broke down and ordered the King in Yellow Tarot deck online after hitting every game store and every occult store within like a three hour radius which includes Literally Salem Massachusetts. Love the art so much I might print out some of the PDF.
