Gen AI ceos say "democratizing" instead of "monetizing". Anyone can learn to write, or draw, through practice at extremely low cost. Those activities have been democratized as long as we've had paper and pencils. They want your subscription money. They're monetizing.

Maybe I'm focusing on the wrong part, but democracy doesn't mean everyone has the powers of the president (not to say Gen AI gives users the powers of an artist but that's how its fans would describe it) I'm not sure what the equivalent to Gen AI would be.

If I recall correctly, this dude is like 40,000 years old. Well before pencils and paper. In every trace of human settlements we've ever found someone was making art. Long before money or art schools. To make art with your own abilities is to be human.

I got into an argument about this the other day. Dude said artists are gatekeeping art behind money and skill. 😂 He just really felt entitled to other people’s labor.

Also "generative" plagiarism calculators don't teach you the creative skills their money hungry sales representatives say they do.
