Congrats!! This is a very hard theme for me because I haven't been drawing much, certainly not exceptional pieces... so I'll show some of my best old pieces instead, I'll write more about them in alt text...
Hey! Congratulations π₯³β¨And thank you for always being awesome and sharing your cool art!
Level up pieces! Beloved level up pieces! The first one is especially important to me bc it made me do backgrounds properly and was for a friend.the last one got me out of a rendering slump π
Thank you for the share!
Here are a few of my pieces where I really felt like " man I'm getting somewhere!"
All of them are differently, but I'm super proud, from a simple cute sketch, to a fullbody ref and a illustration π
Congrats on 1K, Fox! Well deserved, I always love seeing your art here!
This is a cool theme, really neat to see everyone's sort of "ah-ha!" moments! Here are a few of mine going back to 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Gratz on the 1k!! it may not be much but i tried to experiment concepts outside from my usual style (with the exception of one bc i like that one the most haha)
Congrats on 1k and thanks for hosting! π₯³π₯³
I still feel like my grasp on the basics is shaky but here's a few where I felt like I'd done something right!
Congrats on the 1k!
Here are my level ups!
2017 Trusting my gut.
2018 Focusing on selective details.
2020 Filling scenes/detailed bg
2024 I'm cheating. But it's good. ;)
I try to aim for one a year but things don't always line up. I burnt myself out after 2020 streaming commissions every weekday.
β‘TY!β‘
I'd never been 'possessed' by making something before this. 48 hours of juicy, intense creativity, only broken by a couple of meals and a short nap. I felt like crap, but elated, when it was done. A couple of times since I touched the same place, but this one is hard to match, for a level-up.
Congrats on 1K followers! π
As for "LVL up art" I think these are my best examples:
1. Lotts of different textures and a more painty style
2. I actually bothered to draw a background!
3. Speedpaint experiment
4. I think I got the hang of stippling with this piece!
Congrats on the 1K! You work is so amazin', you deserve all the love your work can get! πππ
I've done loads of level up pieces this year and last year π
1k is huge, congrats! :D
Cool idea for a share!
These three, in order, were the ones lately that I really, really felt were noticeable improvements. Finished the big one a few days ago :)
Congrats on 1k & ty for such a sweet artshare theme!!
A few of these are from last year now, but the piece with the explosion is a recent one I made after finally acknowledging burnout symptoms after struggling to enjoy drawing for a while so it was such a good reminder that I DO love drawing <3
Congrats on 1K! So happy you reached this milestone! And thank you for the artshare. I posted some pieces from each year since Jan 2021, where I did a piece that I think started my journey with the lighting and shading I often used now.
So the first picture was the visual proof of my first major level up. A two week span of time after I found a practice method I finally clicked with.
The next 3 are the last 3 pieces I've done.
Oo I adore this theme! This watercolor painting is where I really leveled up. I challenged myself to do this entirely traditional and to use colored line art. Besides correcting the scan, thereβs no digital lighting edits~
Iβm still really proud of this, even though it was from late 2022!
I find it hard to pinpoint which ones are the LVL up, I think most of them happened during my comic creation process
the left one was when I fels good about mechanical details with rather dark light settings
the right one definitely is one for my scene building
This is such a fun theme! My art the past couple months/weeks especially has really felt like huge improvements, especially in anatomy and face shapes, coloring, and just... getting people/characters to look recognizably like themselves?
each of these gave me a huge confidence boost when they were finished- i might've been able to do one of these six months ago, but it would've taken aaaaages. now i can complete a piece in a few hours, if I'm on a roll!
oh! gratz on 1k!
my lvl-up check is usually how well i can overpaint the old pieces that frustrated me and went too far out of my comfort zone at a time and whether i can convey the original meaning. something i clearly struggled with back then and it came out subpar, i give another chance!
Oh nice! Congrats on hitting 1K
The first one is from early last year. I wanted to make a nice, high effort picture of some gal pal giants from our dnd game.
The second is a set of MTG card alters I made of the same dnd lesbians. I felt like they were a big stylistic jump forward.
Awesome! Congratz on the milestone! Well deserved :) And thank you for not only an artshare, but a great theme!
My first digital piece still brings me a lot of pride and exactly what you mentioned! The second fanart fusion really taught me a few things, and makes me smile every time.
Recent challenge that felt like a lvl up was developing different textures to make various night/darkness backgrounds look distinct and emotionally appropriate for the scene they represent.
This piece from 2022 made it all click for me!! Used myself as a ref, used a brush I liked, and tried a loud color palette that actually worked! It got me into a creative flow that I loved for like 2 years, and only recently evolved into something else!
Congrats on 1k!
Iβm Γlle - Iβm an illustrator who focuses a lot on mythology and occult history.
These 4 pieces are where I feel Iβm closest to the style I want to achieve.
Hey, thanks for sharing! I make oil paintings of natural & fantasy landscapes as well as prints and weird sayings using my artwork. Not sure any of them had me saying "I'm getting the hang of this", but I'll post anyway π #art#tradart π¨π¨βπ¨π
Congratz on the huge milestone π
I don't quite know how to feel regarding my art lately, every piece both feels like an improvement (since i am trying to add a new level every time) and a disappointment (because i wish i could do better lmao).
Well here it goes
Thanks for the share, Fox and congratulations on 1k! π₯³
Iβm Luke!, traditional media illustrator from the UK. I bring creatures and monsters to life. Plus a love for sci-fi. Hereβs some of my proudest moments as a drawer of things. #artshare#sciart#illustration#art
Thank you for the art share and congratulations for 1K!π
I think I don't have the jumped level-up pieces π but here are some pieces I have a feeling that I've learned something after painting.
Aaah I think I'm picking up what you're putting down.
1. This was my first real grasp of my style change.
2. Honestly, probably the best wing drawing I'll ever do.
3. Helped a lot with getting perspective points and B&W shading.
4. Got the hang of how I was going to color my comic at this page.
Thank you for the art share! I thought I'd show masterstudy growth, as they've always taught me a lot and left me feeling confident.
First: John Singer Sargent, 2021
Second: William-Adophe Bouguereau, 2022
Third: Raffello Sanzio, 2023
Fourth: Fritz Zuber-Buhler, 2024
(last 3 have OC changes)
as usual i have no idea how long my spoons will last, but i will repost throughout the day as long as i can!! if it gets crowded i'll start prioritizing posts that acknowledge the theme and/or have alt text. thanks for understanding!
- signed, ur disabled freak art friend β€οΈβ
these are my pieces that made me feel like i was figuring stuff out! trying out new compositions, focusing on material studies, painting fabrics, new techniques using gradient maps and the lasso!
these are ones where i knew i was onto something
Thank you for hosting! Tbf about half rendered pieces I've made since getting back to drawing are level-up art. To the point I'm sometimes scared of commiting to some ideas that are dear to me, because I know I will draw much better in the next 2 months. I'm constantly finding ways to do art better.
thanks for the share and congrats on the milestone!!! i think only this year iβve started to be truly satisfied with my work, especially this most recent piece. i think it encapsulates what i want my art to be like all the time π§‘
I color portraits for leisure, practice, or for clients, but I don't draw them. I am interested in coloring comics too, so I would be open to hearing pitches.
