I think our country sinks beneath the yoke: It weeps, it bleeds, and each new day a gash Is added to her wounds.

This sort of "systems thinking" is a critical skill in government and the law. The idea that 3 justices have it and the other 6 don't is almost impossible to believe. This leaves open the very real and heartbreaking possibility that the majority knows exactly what they're dancing around.

And applying the new standard to successively less significant offices is utterly ridiculous across the board. So why should the presidency be different? It's infuriating

Exactly! Since they rob us of looking at motive, the intention of the act is fair game for the *defendant*, which is absolutely bonkers to contemplate.

This, and/but I'm also waiting for the draft amendment to the Constitution that explicitly allows for the prosecution of any federal office-holder after leaving office.

Ralph, the lies cost money too, they're just cheaper, easier to write, and it tends to be trivial to get funding to publish useful lies.

Think of what's being asked of voters now, with every single presidential election - do you trust this person not to break the law even in a scenario where they are guaranteed not to be punished? I wouldn't put ANYONE in the Oval Office by that standard. This sucks hard.

Giving a cop the mugshot treatment because he arrested a rich person who was guilty and acting like that’s totally normal should be a moment that open’s people’s eyes to the jig.

Is the ability to "remember" and reproduce a pitch independent of perfect pitch? I feel like I have the former but not the latter. I can't say what a pitch is immediately on hearing it, but I can back into it with some thought.

The audience, customer and user are subsumed by the investors, dwindling in number, ascendant in influence. Smarter? Hah. Money makes money; start with enough and smarts are no barrier. They curdle that place where market and art cross.

Stop calling them "boomer complaints". Like what is more cringe than this. Is it a boomer complaint if everyone in your mentions agrees with you? Does dunking on shitty aspects of present-day living make you sound like you're over 70? You are literally making it uncool to criticize terrible shit

I have the most "boomer" complaint one can have: Generational labels are at best a probabilistic categorization of personality and belief that ruins any chance we have of recognizing our fellow humans as individuals. Evidence: apparently "boomer" complaints are something everyone has?
