Found footage has its charms. I've seen more than a few good entries into the subgenre. "The Taking of Deborah Logan" immediately springs to mind.

Like I don't think these actors get enough credit for the parts of this movie that actually were scripted. I know the director and crew did some shady stuff to them to get "more realistic" reactions out of them but most of this is just pure acting.

Absolutely. 100% true. Unfortunately the only way to break the cycle is by convincing everyone that they're part of a single tribe, and I can't really see a feasible way of doing that while the billionaire class keeps using culture war bs to divide us.

No I get your point, that a truly extreme communist government would be just as judgemental as any extreme authoritarian one, but we're currently so far from even a nominally communistic existence and so close to an authoritarian one that we can actually afford to fight extremely for a bit.
