True! I should say that there are grounds to criticize Biden on various things - but the sudden mass attention on his debate performance, and anxiety over his age, feels very orchestrated to me. Besides, the target audience has the memory of an addled goldfish.

Discussions with LLM devotees reminds me of a discussion with a sovereign citizen - creating an elaborate construct of the world that has almost nothing to do with the real world - and wouldn't be desirable even if it could become real.

Time for "The Cat Returns" on the big screen at the local indie cinema. If you haven't seen it, it's a charming little Studio Ghibli movie. Not Miyazaki, but well worth your time.

When I've done it, I've been visiting family in the US (I live in Australia) - usually with about two weeks to spend, so padding out a day or two for Amtrak isn't a big deal. Cost is a (relatively) small issue, compared to the simple cost of getting over there. Qantas has been our go-to.

Having done a number of cross-country trips on Amtrak, I'm a fan....but never, never again will I take a coach seat. No sleep at all. Also, bear in mind that the timetable is a fairly rough approximation - leave at least a day's cushion for the train running late.
