I mean, given the breadth of immunity AND exclusion of official acts from evidence, idk about "no chance" - the NY courts may say harmless error for anything that was admitted that's even borderline official conduct, but I struggle to see this SCOTUS letting him go to the pokey at the end of the day

Right - there needed to be about a one-year runway on this; five months deprives the primaries of any meaning, and leaves the new nominee (presumptively Harris) with much less time to sell the electorate. But the alternative now is a visibly enfeebled octogenarian. This sucks.

Yep. I'm 42. The first election I was old enough to vote in was decided by 5 Supreme Court Justices leaping in to stop a state recount, admitting their legal analysis was a one-off, then never analyzing any future case the same way. And it will be like this until I die.
