Oooooh, I’ve got SO many issues with that display… Most of the museum is really good - from a social history perspective - but that diorama kind of nullifies most of what is said in the rest of the museum. It’s such a weird choice!
Really sets the tone for the rest of the exhibition, doesn't it? Start with THIS and let it linger when reading about troop movements and martial honour and camp life.
I think I remember having to cross a dark, ominous gate with written "WAR" on it?
Also, one of the military feats they emphasis is failing to invade Norway and having to carry their dead king Charles XII back through the mountains...
