This is capacity constraint with the new model. Divisive styling aside (which I personally dig) it really is fantastic. You couldn't convince me to spend more on a luxury brand competitor, and that's not even taking into account the ridiculous 34 mpg comb hybrid version on its own merit.

That said, everyone I know who has driven it -- myself included -- loves it. The styling and price are turn-offs for many, but it delivers the goods. I'd take a top spec Obsidian III over an Escalade.

Notes from the world of car rentals: Just got back from a soccer tournament in CA and a few of the parents had Jeep Wrangler rentals, all of which were 4xe, none of which will ever be plugged-in. Rental plug-in hybrid is the worst use case for plug-in hybrid. There were also several Wagoneers
