I quit drinking last year when it became clear we were headed to a SCOTUS challenge focused on trans health care not because I think I'm so important to that fight that I need to be in my most sober prime but because it was making me absolutely miserable and why would I voluntarily add more misery

Just talking to these families and their kids and they're all so gracious and so human and I could just feel alcohol making me less gracious and less human. It was making me bitter and dumb. I can't write about hope and optimism--which we desperately need--while killing myself.
