Oh yeah, I think he definitely let the showrunners take some bullets for him lol. Doesn't help that he includes things without a plan for how they'll turn out. He painted himself into a few corners with some of the plot threads

also Varys' action at the very end of Dance of Dragons makes no sense for his character. oh and the whole extra probably fake Targaryen. And Lady Stoneheart. And on and on and on. tbh I don't think he'll ever get out of the weeds. it's not just the show interference. he can't stop spiraling out.

omg he's SO into the weeds (the books). who the fuck ARE all these people all of a sudden?! much as I understand the dislike of Sansa ending up with Ramsay, at least it moved the main plot along. no one gives a fuck about Jeyne Poole and Sansa is where now? just for starters
