Does your SO do anything like stack up mulch to overwinter them or just leave them alone during the winter?

Revising my previous statement: OTHERS seem to have success. There’s a guy that maintains the sidewalk-to-fence strip who has a number of mums that come back year over year. Mounding 3-4 inches of mulch is what is recommended. But she never remembers to do that. :-P
