True! , lighter means more expensive! I do miss it for a couple reasons. The big one is the close focus. The 600 is 14ft, 400 is 8 ft ish. I often run into smaller birds too close. The 400 isn’t much lighter, but it is shorter so it would be easier to handhold. But the 1.4x was always on the 400

Yes, I totally get the close focus thing, moving back to take shots just isn't right. Makes one think, 600s are long and wieldy! You don't mind the 1.4x if you are starting at f2.8, it's one stop loss. But that's a lot of light!
