I was so worried about this that I got a proxy vote as well. The postal vote is ok in theory but fraught with problems. Why we don’t have a secure web based voting system in 2024 is beyond me. I can buy and sell a house, see my doctor, transfer money to France all online. But not vote. Ridiculous.

France is even odder. You CAN vote by internet but only if you live abroad. And you can appoint a proxy if you can’t go to “the urns” (!). But no postal votes.
