they’re so rarely serious about it, but even when they are — if an abuser decides that their own death is a preferable alternative to trying to make amends, godspeed to them. i trust that in that moment they do truly grapple with the gravity of what they have done

nobody was that i’ve seen. but abusers threatening suicide, while it’ll work to deter some folks, cannot deter truth
