Three years ago in the middle of the pandemic the Dean closed my on campus center after 8 years. I became depressed, fought through the last year, and spent two years teaching high school- Today, I signed an offer letter with AU Montgomery. I get to be a professor again.

I was amazed by the airplane paintings- I didn't know them at all, and by the realistic skyline paintings from NYC- so prolific. I love NM- we did some work last year for the New Mexico Bar, and I drove route 66 through there this summer. Fell in love with Las Vegas and White Sands.

My kid played at the Tulane Jazz Festival. His band was from IN, I was at Auburn and went down. An older black man sat down beside me and talked to me about how good the band (my son's HS jazz band) was. He shook my hand, got up and left. Guy behind me tapped my should and said, "that was Ellis".

I totally get it. We did some work for the State Bar Association and I got to spend the week in ABQ. Then this summer I drove route 66 through as much of the state as possible. I'd move to Las Vegas NM in a second.

You'll be fine. I did my Ph.D working full-time (as a clinical professor) with two teenagers. Nobody cares about grades- they care about what you can demonstrably do. Good luck.

Great question. They were very taken aback and had a lot of questions about the sculpture. "Why are their chains around their necks?" "They were kidnapped?" We spent a lot of time there (very bright 7 and 8). They can read, but a lot of it was overwhelming. Answered the ?s they asked- they processed

Got to have my granddaughters (Brooklyn, Montgomery AL) together for last week. They instantly bond (although they have no actual shared DNA) and they are inseparable. Nothing makes me happier. (At the Peace and Justice museum in Montgomery).
