You missed the part on their website where they take no public funding (I call BS, but let's take them at their word). How much you wanna bet that this town doesn't want another shelter because it would cost them tax $$?

You're right on the mark. Many towns & cities are happy to have whatever "faith-based" group, often self-proclaimed, take on the burden of providing shelter with no public $$. Without govt. funding, there's often no real oversight of what goes on inside.
