In Canada the CBC had a whole sign-off video they played at the end of the day. As recently as 18 years ago; they only switched to 24 hours a day in 2006.

Here in NZ I was a bit too young for the Goodnight Kiwi years, but when this mental health support ad played you knew it was time to go to bed or you’d just be sitting through hours of infomercials before the morning televangelists came on.
