Even if you *think* you might have been exposed, that’s several rounds of shots to hopefully get rid of it if you’re right. Why people* don’t have a vaccine is beyond my understanding. *people in animal service type jobs

People who handle wild mammals can get it as a preventative. It's usually a requirement to rehabilitate bats, for example It's uncommon enough in pets (due to, you know, pets being vaccinated) that I don't think it's a requirement if all you do is work with domestic animals
