If the Earth were the size of a basketball, the oblateness of the spheroid would be about 1/30 inches (about .9 mm) in the diameter. Unless you're dealing with optics, this is as close to perfect as has any meaning.

Yeah. Not only is it objectively "round", most of the time you can even call it "spherical" and be close enough.
