God, if this were *real,* it would be an amazing resource for people writing vital documents - existing readability checkers only really look at sentence length and not vocabulary complexity. But yeah, the marketing sucks and I have zero faith in either the process or the output. 😕

Right? Abridged classics was my first intro to a lot of famous writers. And CliffsNotes is out there for a reason. It's especially helpful when dialect changes over centuries and, say, Shakespeare's slang turns unparseable. You get the context of the full text better later with their help.
