This doesn’t mean I agree with the decision necessarily, but I do think it’s a good thing to have our de facto policy of not charging any president for crimes committed while in office clearly stated on the record for the benefit of people with neo-liberal sentiments to reckon with.

This may be a hot take, but I don’t see how the SCOTUS decision on presidential power realistically changes anything about the way we already treat presidential power in practice. The threat of prosecution post-presidency has never been a real threat to any president who acted on malicious intent.

Arguing on the bad faith terms of a group of justices that were never really serious about things like established precedent or “constitutional originalism” cedes ground to people who are actually just cynical political operators at the end of the day (the justices themselves)

I learned a lot from this project, and even if you're familiar with some of the history of the hacking community, you will likely learn something you didn't already know. What this book isn't, is a dry, point-by-point re-telling of how "back in the olden days, we used punch cards!"

Some of the stories in the book will be familiar to those of you with a history in cybersecurity, but one thing that has always irked me about writings on cybersecurity history so far has been the lack of insight into how communities of hackers developed anywhere outside of North America.

This is an important story that needs to be told so that we can all better understand the way the world as it is (at least in part) came to be. The scope I gave myself at the beginning was the span of time between the late-1960s and 2015, but there's some blurring along the edges of the timeline.

This book is abut the development of cybersecurity as an industry, and how the government came to be adversarial to hackers at first, but ultimately embraced us, putting both our skills and our culture to work fighting for geopolitical agendas.

Over the past two years, I've taken a big step back from social media for a lot of good reasons, one reason is my upcoming book (bsky.app/profile/hexa...) which will be on shelves (hopefully) by the end of the year. To get some interest going, here's a thread about what you can expect:

I’ve noticed this same phenomenon lately in fiction where we get the backstories of the villains from the main series. The ballad of songbirds and snakes & wicked are two examples I can think of.

I do not recognize the authority of a court that hangs the gold-fringed flag. A flag with gilded edges is the flag of an Admiralty court. An Admiralty court signifies a Naval court-martial. I cannot be court-martialed twice. that is all.

If anyone knows that this is the case, I will happily amend. Otherwise I’m leaving it as is. It’s bad enough to get this sidetracked off the main point which is a kid was beaten to death. It’s a tragedy no matter who the kid was.
