Killing the villain has a hypothesis and supporting evidence that is how humans self-domesticated. Groups of humans cooperated to eliminate the bullies and villains who dominated them, making those who had genes to be more cooperative more likely to reproduce. Over time we became social animals.

isn't it more likely that we're descended from bullies? Since you'd need to be able to spread word quickly (gossip), ostracize a group (mock), and mercilessly destroy them (excommunicate) like Regina George? ... Or Christopher Columbus?
