Gymnocalycium. Red and black succulents. Are these real? I suspect the image on the left is fake. The variant on the right appears to be real. I've seen it elsewhere under different names, as if there's a taxonomy controversy at play here. Check the Alt text on both images for plant nerdery. ;) 🌱

That photo is strongly enhanced, and are nowhere near that vibrant and contrasted. But yes, real.

The red ones, at least, are real! I have one. The color is a cultivated mutation that leaves the cactus without chlorophyll, and the only way they survive is through grafting onto another cactus.
