I hope the Dems don’t do what they are infamous for - indecision, wobbling, second guessing. He faltered. Once. If he’s that much of a concern, remove him now. If not, back him. The other one is a convicted felon, rapist, insurrectionist and pathological liar. He remains utterly unacceptable.
