“The best will listen. They will discover things. They will learn from them.” That’s really well put. Not engaging wholeheartedly with such encounters and learning from them means he misses the opportunity to develop and pitch a vision for his party.

Just as important as your main point is your secondary point, which is far too little commented upon. Sir Keir Starmer, very unusually among politicians, listens and learns. He is a far more considerable politician than he was 4 years ago as a consequence.
