Biden's mental acuity completely aside, any time I see stories about "elite Democratic donors" that include people like "Disney heiresses" talking to the press to get their way my immediate reaction is to think "fuck those people, how can I help ruin their plans"
I understand the reactionary impulse against the meddling of the super rich, but equally, even a Disney heiress might be right from time to time.
(I'm not 100% out on Biden yet but the 'historical jetlag' attempted excuse did a LOT of damage in my eyes.)
"the Disney heiress has good opinions sometimes" "the Disney heiress may agree with you" "the Disney heiress might be right" Let me explain something: I don't care
It's like my motto: if the chamber of commerce is for it, you cannot go wrong being against it.
Even if one of them is a halfway decent person, I. Don't. Care. What. They. Want. They can stand in line at a pool like everyone else.
It's extremely fucked up that's probably going to be what convinces him: donors jumping ship
This sucks shit but that is unfortunately the reality of it
Honestly my one-two on this is that the party responded to Reaganism by pursuing high-wealth private and corporate donors and turning to Clinton/Blair "3rd way" mushy middle politics and it could have survived one of those things but not both. It's been moribund as a force for good for some time.
