It shouldn’t be this way. We should have independent, moral people evaluating the actions of our government and acting to preserve people’s rights. But we don’t.

Any lawyer who says ‘it would be challenged in court’ does understand this SCOTUS. Law is a means to express political will now. They use law to ensure their allies can achieve their goals and their enemies are stifled.

He could and should make use of this power, whether you think he’ll win or not. Any Republican would. Memes about Predator drones aside, SCOTUS inadvertently opened the door to Biden expanding his authority to achieve every liberal policy goal, by ‘officially’ circumventing the political process.

Biden could spend the time between now and January jailing or killing his political opponents. Or, more humanely, he could order the IRS to crawl up Thomas and Scalia’s assholes and call the judge in the NY trial and offer to make him ambassador to the island nation of his choice if he jails Trump.

The SCOTUS immunity decision rests on Biden, and democrats writ large, being too deferential to norms and civility to use the MASSIVE amount of power they just handed Biden for the next 7 months. Sadly, they are 100% right.

Glad that SCOTUS is making political bribery- which they already said is already legal and cool- even legaler and cooler today. But on an unrelated note, Harlan Crow has just dropped off a bunch of nazi themed duffles full of non-sequential ‘gratuities’ at the Thomas’ house.

Just think. Right now, conservative Supreme Court clerks are pouring over a 1654 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary to find an obscure meaning of the word ‘immunity’; all so they can make the idea that Republican presidents can do crimes but Democrat presidents can’t sound respectable.
