I guess it’s due to different generations or environments. And they fail to acknowledge how things changed over the years. And yeah that mentality; with people being like “we didn’t have this back in the day!” when it likely existed but wasn’t as discussed or was dealt with differently.

Yep. Back then it wasn't super accessible, the knowledge about it wasn't super great and there was a lot of "put some dirt in it" and "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality going on. My mom's other reason is she is nearing the end of her life so why bother and I was like to make it better??
