At this point, I'm wondering if the Independent voter saying this just wants to see if the US will actually become a dictatorship under Trump.
Like, I wish I had a better candidate to vote for, but if it's not clear by now that Biden's the sane one it never will be.

Well, yes, that's the more modern variation. I'm still lost on the racial slur unless there's something about the use of 'bugaboo' I'm not aware of.

Now my head hurts, because I'm trying to figure out how one goes from the antiquated 'bugaboo' to a racial slur.

I'd argue it'd be more common to hear 'bugbear' than 'bugaboo'. And it *still* mystifies me how it'd even get in there.

I still don't understand how he could get close to a racial slur in a budget discussion. MAYBE in describing the direction of a chart, because there's an unfortunate alternate meaning for slant, but *that* is stretching things beyond reason.

No, no I can't. Like, why would you even have something remotely close to a slur in your speech?!

I compare it to Scylla and Charybdis. Neither is a good choice, but at least with Scylla you'll still have a ship.

I should specify that when I say I will vote for someone who doesn't want to be a dictator, I am damning them with faint praise. It's a thing that shouldn't even need to be said in the US, and if that's the strongest point going for one, that's pathetic indeed.

My mode of thought anymore is that, unless there is clear evidence to the contrary, it should be assumed that once there is a Hole of Wrongness found, it is a bottomless one.

Even with as much work as one can put in, there are people who will never accept because it would mean they were wrong, and the humility it would take to admit *being* wrong is too much for them to endure.

Where it *ought* to outweigh the biases but, for some people, accepting the reliability also means accepting being wrong, and that is, for them, a step too far.
