But they never mean what they say. Usually leadership is “who can comb their hair and stay in line the best” not anything like “who can responsibly lead others towards worthwhile goals”. It’s meaningless pap that is used to pad resumes and suck up to the right people.

I always read it as "Who can make the most money (and thus donate the most to the college as an alumnus) when they graduate?"
