I feel like I'm losing my mind in all this. It's like if, in the HALLOWEEN universe, Dr. Loomis was running against Michael Myers, and Loomis was getting pressured to drop out for being old, but Myers wasn't getting any pressure at all for being a serial mass murderer.

Not for being old. For being incoherent at night and then saying he will never do another nighttime event to prove that the first one was just an anomaly, basically admitting that he does indeed get like that often at night, which means we are not safe at all.
