I always wondered why debates didn't have the mics controlled by the moderator, and have a team of fact-checkers on-hand. There was never any reason for someone's mic to be live when it wasn't their time, and moderators should have aggressively pushed back on obvious falsehoods.

I mean, I feel like the reason is they liked the interrupting and false info, but now that they have the Avatar of Interrupting and False Info, somebody has decided it's bad??? lol
