Always in my feelings when it comes to borders. Americans do not understand how violent they are and to speak of just "fleeing" reminds me of that every single time.

I haven't left America. My parents effectively distilled fear of leaving not because of the trauma of home but of that developed coming here. And having to learn from each person that comes as I see them slowly become smaller forms of themselves the longer they're here makes me sad.
