I haven't left America. My parents effectively distilled fear of leaving not because of the trauma of home but of that developed coming here. And having to learn from each person that comes as I see them slowly become smaller forms of themselves the longer they're here makes me sad.

For me Black culture is actually resistance, so when I engage other Black people culturally, I do consider that I'm acting politically. If the only thing I did for the struggle in a day was riff with other Black people in dialect & share practices with another hodoodist, I was still resisting.

This is a huge red flag on Gaiman. He published a volume explicitly addressing sexual abuse, explicitly knowing that this material can be triggering for survivors, explicitly not caring about how to do it ethically.
