Comparing the Netherlands, which as an entire country, does not even share comparative land mass with a significant number of our states, to the USA and our transit, is unhelpful. I never said misinformation, I said inaccurate. There are always ways to improve a system, make appropriate ones.

Because it’s an inaccurate concept. Comparing the two systems bad form because of drastic real world complications. And you have people who read these comics and then use them in arguments and think it’s an accurate understanding of the world, or indeed celebrate the “joke” unironically.

There are 3 OBGYN hospitalists in the community hospital where I work. 2 of the 3 live more than an hour away from the hospital when they come in for their 24 hour shifts. You are not going to get bussing out to their individual country farm houses.

I shouldn’t have to explain the simple concept that land mass matters very significantly when planning public transit. People frequently commute to work, particularly skilled labor.
