This was one my Architectural school projects. A geodesic dome. Once all the struts were cut and the hubs were made it was constructed very quickly. Architectonics!
I used to hang out at a place in Barrie, Ontario called The Domes, which is a property owned by an old man named Captain, who has built 5 or 6 building-sized geodesic domes on his property out of trees cut from the property! It's super cool out there!
My dad built a tridecahedron ball out of plywood and shellacked it for us to play with in the LI Sound at the beach. Why? Because it fascinated him, and he could. 6โ diameter. What a riot.
Thats such a great pic.
My brain knows whats going on and that its just an optical illusion but my eyes just keep screaming those struts are impossible.
I genuinely cant stop looking.๐
A few years ago I helped put together a metal geodesic climbing dome about the same size in our park. It was a real beast to get everything lined up towards the end. Other helpers were ready to give up, sure it wouldn't work. I convinced them to continue. We finally got it all together.
