Ahhhh, I may be making a mistake trying to read them all then in order. I'm really drawn into the action and valbar from Birds of Prey. I'll probably read Pinwheel #1, mostly out of strong curiosity of how the writer started the series, then jump into the Autumn War.

Honestly? Really enjoyed. Loved the world building. Loved the characters. The story was well written, and I did not know which direction the writer was going to take the final arc. The adult themes were definitely there, but the book did not revolve around it.

It's has some adult themes (read: alien sex) but it's an overall good piece of scifi literature 😌

I don't recognize any of this as reference to anything else. Val'bar'ra'nay? Stacking? The consensus? The characters, with exception to the male. Your world building leaves me wanting more. Such interesting concepts.
