one time my boyfriend was looking at my list of titles and he said "These would all be great sci-fi stories published in Amazing Stories circa 1959-1974. Unfortunately in the 80s and 90s they’ll all be turned into movies called, like, MAXIMUM METAL", I think I have Philip K. Dick brain

if anyone has ever wondered what my active projects list looks like, welllllllll, I've never been able to work on just one thing at once... or two, or three 😆 the "design notes" ones at the bottom are only JUST started; as soon as a second document is made, it gets a folder

this is what I wrote about it in my newsletter this month, and I'll reiterate it here - I think it's really important to have historical games that do not paint the past entirely in tragedy. to think that there was no opportunity for joy or relief does our ancestors a disservice.

combining elements of PbtA and FitD for this game like I'm titrating chemicals in high school lab, like if I add one drop too much of either, it's all gonna blow up, even though they're both sooooo close to each other as a baseline 😂

damn I love making games, I love making lists of mermaid-themed accessories for Dollhouse Drama and then making a team of heist characters for Thrill of the Chase and then outlining key map locations for Pax Deorum

I used to worry so much about making games where your characters pretty much had to be women, but actually I've decided it rules and also anyone who would be weird about playing a girl character is probably not going to pick up a game called "Dollhouse Drama" anyway

briefly switching gears to a different project of mine, and after so much work on Dollhouse Drama (Barbie game), Pax Deorum (Vestal Virgins game), and Before the Season Ends (Regency debutante game), it feels downright weird to work on something with any significant number of male characters 😆

all of my current main projects are in phases where they need a lot of writing and the actual game design is pretty complete, so I am having to bribe myself with the promise of "if you complete [whatever section] of writing, then you can go play with new mechanics on [new game]"
