I am going to post this again and again as a person who lived in Texas for 30 years: Find a friend in a red state and ask what you can do to help THEIR elections. Write postcards. Make a donation. I’m in a safe blue area but will be doing all I can to support Colin Allred and unseat Ted Cruz.

The only thing to decide is which of the two viable choices is more likely to give you the future you want. Not voting or voting for a third party favors Trump. It just comes down to who you want as President between those two. There is no other option this year.

I called the Idaho Governor’s office today about the ridiculous new library law that is arduous if not impossible to comply with and they explained to me how this “protected the children” and I said a bad word to the man and now my husband is disappointed in me and I need pictures of pets, please.

I don’t know how to tell people that Joe Biden stone cold dead in a coffin is a better choice than Trump. At least his pallbearers will care a bit about democracy. Trump is a disaster which will be recounted 2000 years from now.

I am retired and have time. My response to posts like this is to call the governors office/state legislature/etc. before I even move on to the next post. This call I got as far as “Has there even been a problem with children and pornographic material?” - and then I was forwarded to voicemail.

I remember reading that Stanley Marcus told his chocolate buyer to stock more bittersweet chocolate. ‘But people like milk chocolate!’ the buyer said. Marcus replied that it was up to him to educate the public. I wish our our politicians had the conviction of Stanley Marcus regarding democracy.

Called the State Legislature in NC when the mask ban was under consideration. Told them we were on our was to Asheville/Biltmore and just turned our car right round. (Absolutely true). Asked if we were going to have to leave wheelchairs at the border next. Mama was MAD. 😡

My mother brought me up in the before times with ‘Never write anything in a letter that you wouldn’t want on the front page of the newspaper’. (She had in mind incriminating love letters, I guess). Now it’s ‘Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want used as evidence in your criminal trial”. 🤷‍♀️

Science Fact of the Day: Raccoons will growl. And hiss. Even if you’re just sitting reading and minding your own business. Our house backs up to 800 acres of woods. We see lots back there - people, bears, birds, bobcats, and today a mama raccoon and her 4 babies. She did not like seeing me! 🦝😡

Our hotel was next door to Duluth trading Co and I bought two shirts there that are really nice quality. Lands End has a good size range, and the whole Roamans etc website has decent quality at good prices, esp on sale. I tend to like natural fabrics only, which limits it some.

I have a friend whose 40 yr old healthy son has just spent 48 hours in the ER with a collapsed lung/pneumonia. My own 40ish son was deathly ill from what I’m convinced was a post covid lung complication. Two data points is not a study, granted. But I’m old enough to know this isn’t routine.

Yes. A bunch of geriatrics in an over 55 community. 😂. However, we at least can share our last bottles of Ensure and sharpen our canes to fight off the hordes. 🩼 Srsly, tho, studies show most people cooperate and help each other in a crisis, thankfully. 😅👍🏻

We have a neighborhood emergency response group in our community. I don’t think it’s so much about preparing go-bags as it’s about getting to know your neighbors so you don’t go all feral when disaster hits.

I posted a thread about this yesterday. An artist gave a talk where he found this to be the best use of AI for himself. I was just - ”Okaaaay… Did you even LOOK at those AI Pix before you painted them?” Could be good for teachers to generate ref pix for classes, but still - a lot of electricity. ⚡️
