While footage like this was shown during the US invasion of Grenada, it was still from far away and not materially that much different from Vietnam footage. In the mid-90's, they knew they had to really sell this one. And holy shit, did they ever.

when i was really little, i wasn’t allowed to play with toy guns, but my mom lost that battle to star wars. by the time i was a bit older and the gulf war was in full swing, her line in the sand was collecting either one of the two brands of desert storm trading cards.
