NYC just introduced standardized trash cans for everyone, which should fit with mechanical arms being attached to garbage trucks. Right now everyone uses different size/shape bins, and bigger buildings often just stack a bunch of trash bags on the curb.

People here lost their minds when a formerly-free parking lot started charging $2/hour last year. Numerous suburbanites insisted they would no longer drive 20-minutes each way to spend $75 at nearby restaurants if they couldn’t park for free. Whenever I walk by, these restaurants are always full.

I keep hoping Canada will just annex all the area around Lake Ontario. This isn't even an "if Trump wins" thing; I just think it would make more sense if Buffalo and Rochester were tied to Toronto's economy instead of New York City's.

I fell behind on Moby Dick and Middlemarch, but eventually finished both. (I’d read Moby Dick twice before, so I could still post about it). For Frankenstein (also a re-read) the chapters were so short I had to work not to read ahead.

Alternate theory: NYT eds are in such an echo chamber that they assumed the people calling for Biden to drop out were far more numerous/influential than they actually are, and they figured they’d better jump on the bandwagon – which is also really embarrassing.

I think if it was a 5-4 court Roberts would have exercised some minor (though not meaningful) restraint. So instead of explicitly overturning Roe, SCOTUS would just gut it by upholding every abortion restriction states come up with.
