Well, those women cannot afford to be housewives. (TBH no one can.) Generally, they make more than their male partners, overall, so it's more about uplifting men imho.

These days what happens is these women realize (typically from friends telling them they can do better) that they can drop the impoverished man to leave impoverishment. So there's a sharp drop in solidarity among the poor as we get older.
