This would require the third parties to field candidates. I just got my absentee ballot for the August primary here in Wisconsin and while the Green Party has its own section on the ballot, it's completely blank. No one filed to run for any of the eight offices up for election.

The actual third party strategy would be to build a functioning one in lower level offices in a viable state, and use that as a power base, instead of the showboat higher level elections like President, and tc.
