IIRC Henke was the first pitching all-star to have 0 wins when named to the team. Also the first to have 0 wins while leading the league in saves - both in 1987. Wonder if he regrets at all not hanging around another 3 years as he might have made the HOF with 400+ saves vs the 311 he had.

Especially frustrating when you look at the ump scorecard - he called 5 balls strikes that were lower than the one he called a ball with 2 strikes in the 9th. If that one call was flipped the Jays win. Sigh. Game of inches and judgement calls.

Given they decided those are 'tips' maybe have the IRS check if he claimed them on his taxes. I'd bet strongly he didn't.

Ugh. Wonder what the point is of even trying to play in that - can't be fun for anyone, players or fans. I'd hope the Jays are careful and have tons of liquid for the players and do something throughout the games to help keep them cool and safe. Sadly probably just trust the players to do it instead

Scary how Tesla was seen as such a leader and had so much potential just a few years ago. Now they are a sad joke counting on fools to keep investing in them. I bought a used Model S and after 2 years (and many expensive repairs) the battery died & I walked away from them. My next EV won't be Tesla

Helps explain why they have svoted fewer than the Jays. I suspect their fans are like Jays fans last year - happy to be in a playoff slot but feeling like doom is coming.

Games like this help one love baseball. Even if they lost it was such a fun one to watch, but the win and look on Kiermaier on the final out was icing on the cake.

The Jays have done what I saw as the minimum to not be dismantled quickly-a split. They can't do the perfect world sweep, but few expected that. 3 of 4 would be nice. Houston for 4 next will be tough, another 2 or 3 of 4 needed which again, won't be easy. Lets enjoy the Springer/Vlad show for now.

I'm hoping the IRS checks the net income for these politicians and judges who are getting tips. Tips are taxable income after all.

Poor Springer - finally on a hot streak and gets hit in the hand and pulled from the game. Sigh. If the Jays didn't have bad luck they'd have no luck this year.

You might need to look at how to move to another place that is safer - sadly the right wingers are working hard on taking over Canada right now, so I'd look to Europe, lots of good countries there (not UK) or Australia/New Zealand (not sure on that area).

Well, found this - www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/t... - shows the odds of a 78 year old male dying in the next year is 5.3%, for an 81 year old it is 7.1% - gotta think the high stress of what they are doing only makes that go up.

I'm big enough to admit I was wrong. I thought the manager was crazy keeping Springer in the heart of the order but it has finally started to pay off - 2 games in a row (sorta - the rainout confuses things). I do hope he keeps it up. Being proven wrong when I get negative on the Jays is nice.

It's still strange seeing Bo at #1 - he is not a patient hitter and just came back from an injury. I'm sure there is a logic there, but it escapes me. Maybe to get him extra PA since there isn't a real leadoff guy here, outside of Horwitz who is sitting vs a tough LH.

Heh. Well, what else would he say? Of course with next years season ticket sale push on he needs to say 'we are contending', to say there are any plans to sell would tank sales. Fans don't come to watch a rebuild, they want a winner. Safe to say he has thought about it.

Amazing how decent Little has been. This guy was very deep down the depth chart, 1 ML game pre this year, now becoming the most trusted LH in the pen. Sad for Mayza & Cabrera, happy for Little.

Great to see. Glad Springer finally rewarded Schneiders' faith in him. Hopefully he keeps it up and makes all my blasting of him and his sub 600 OPS look foolish. Kiermaier starting to look better too. Now if Kirk could just get going as well, and a few guys return from the IL.

Playing a guy with one of the worst OPS in MLB in the heart of the order day in, day out while the team was falling out of the race is what was stupid. Yeah, he had a good day today, but still has a sub 600 OPS. It just makes no sense. Bat him 7-9 in the order if you must, but batting 4/5? Yikes.

Wondering why Springer is still playing. Let alone in the heart of the order. Now his defense is going down too. At this point one has to think Schneider the manager wants to be fired.

Sigh. The Jays hopefully will do a '98 where they dumped vets at the deadline then went on a charge to win the most games during that dark period of 94-14. 88 wins looks like plenty to make the playoffs this year.

To me, it is clearly a bad decision by Orelvis, be it using it to cheat or simply not checking with the team before taking it. The club needs to hit players over the head with how critical it is to to check before taking _anything_ medical related.

I'm sure by now they ate listening closely to offers but won't do anything big until closer to the deadline when buying teams will be most desperate.

He actually has a sOPS+ over 100 vs finesse pitchers this year. So this is probably the best shot he has to have a good day. Still wouldn't bat him 4th though.

It is scary just how bad the US can be with foreign policy. They make a bad choice and thousands die. And now they might give a total loon a second chance to blow us all up, or just leave a guy in his 80s in power. Best hope is the 80s guy wins, then retires or dies.

Hate to say it, but they are right. I love Bo, but right now the Dodgers are desperate and have both cash and quality prospects. I'd demand a kings ransom, 2 of their top 5 prospects minimum plus. They don't pay? We enjoy Bo for another year+ No lose situation.

So silly. The Model S (I used to own one, bought used, after 2 years the battery died out of nowhere, not touching one again) has beds you can set up in the back easy as anything to sleep on. Not a tent, but decent none-the-less. The Cybertruck is for rich fools imo.

Makes sense as 3B and RF both haven't hit in June. Hopefully he gets a fair amount of time in RF. Keep thinking-hoping Springer is hurt as either that or he just is toast with 2 years to go.

So it sounds like it is very minor for Kiermaier. No time on the IL, I'd assume, just a day or two off. Unless the Jays want to see Lukes on the bench for 15 days, of course.

Well, as this season keeps moving along I'm willing to admit I was very wrong about IKF. Felt he was a waste of money to sign at the time. So far so good with Horwitz at 2B too, who'd have thought a 1B/DH could be a decent 2B option?

I'd like to believe that - but a guy who hasn't had a 100 OPS+ since Trump was in office, who is meh on defense at 2B/RF, average speed, very good eye but 80 OPS+ this year. Just hard to see much value. I'd love to see it, I think he can be a 3 WAR guy but at 29 his clock is ticking loudly.

Clement and Vogelbach would be released and lost, Biggio has all 3 options so by that Biggio. Also Biggio has been used as a PR 4 of his last 5 times used. He really has become the 13th man. Sad as I love cheering him, but his value has dropped to nothing now.

Guess Turner is finally feeling better. Hopefully, whatever made him so sick he had a 4 wRC+ for May is gone now. A healthy Turner is a big asset, a sick one isn't.

It'd result in an empty park and worse (for Rogers) very poor TV ratings. IIRC around 2004 when the team really stunk they had trouble getting 100k viewers vs the 800k+ these past few years. 1 year of down is the limit.

I feel for you and the broadcasters - you can't just turn it off when it gets bad, us fans can. I don't get why Turner isn't being given more time off right now, he clearly isn't right as he showed in April he can hit still. Vogelbach, I'm happy, has shown I was wrong to want him released.

Can't complain about that lineup. Glad to see Bo moved down to #5, but #1 is making sure you have the best players possible in the lineup and this is probably as good as it gets right now for the Jays. Fingers crossed for at least a split.

Thank you. Wasn't sure, but clearly he needs IL time - a 4 wRC+ obviously doesn't cut it for a DH. These guys need to stop thinking they need to stay in the lineup no matter what shape they are in as does the team. A sick player vs a healthy one is rarely better unless you are Ohtani level.
